Beyond Enchantments: Inner Deliverance

Isaiah 47:12-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 47 in context

Scripture Focus

12Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
13Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
14Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
15Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.
Isaiah 47:12-15

Biblical Context

The passage shows that relying on enchantments and astrologers cannot save you; these external aids will not deliver you from what is coming. It points to an inner economy of power that must be discovered within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here you are asked to stand with your 'enchantments' and sorceries—those external beliefs you have leaned on as if they could save you. But in Neville's way of reading, these are states of mind, not facts. The 'multitude of thy sorceries' are the recurring thoughts and tricks you have trusted from youth; the 'astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators' are the forecasts you feed yourself from outside, hoping for relief. They shall be as stubble and burn; they cannot deliver you from the fire of change that comes when consciousness awakens. The verse is not a history lesson but a map: do not invest your life in outer people, systems or tokens of power, for none can save you from the inward demand for renewal. The deliverer is the I AM within, your eternal awareness that never dies. When you revise your belief and accept that the power to be free resides in you now, the old scenes melt away, the habitual merchants lose their grip, and you stand refreshed as the fire becomes warmth from within. You behold your own inner sovereignty.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and declare 'I am the I AM.' Revise the scene by dissolving the astrologers and merchants into harmless light and feel the inner warmth of the Presence delivering you in this moment.
