Vanity's Idol, Inner Kingdom

Isaiah 44:9-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 44 in context

Scripture Focus

9They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
10Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?
11Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.
Isaiah 44:9-11

Biblical Context

Isaiah 44:9-11 condemns those who fashion graven images as vanity, noting their images profit nothing and that they witness for themselves yet see not. The passage foreshadows collective shaming of idolaters.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this scripture the graven image is a state of consciousness, not a stone. You have formed a god by clinging to outer forms, seeking profit where there is none. The witnesses described are your own beliefs and habits that do not see the truth. All the workers gathered around the image are thought-forms of lack and fear; they will be ashamed as you awaken to the inner reality you denied. The invitation is to revise your inner image until it worships the I AM, the living consciousness that profits from nothing but expresses all. When you realize the god you formed is simply a moving thought, you may let it dissolve and replace it with the one God within you. The workmen become witnesses to your true identity, and your sense of shame gives way to illumination as you return to the I AM that you really are.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine the idol image dissolving into light while you affirm I AM, the witness and source of all. Feel the inner reality shift as you dwell as consciousness rather than form.
