Inner Eyes Awake
Isaiah 44:18-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 44 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verses describe a people whose eyes and hearts are shut, unable to know or understand, because they rely on outward forms that lead to deception. They eat ashes and worship idols, yet claim they have truth, revealing a misalignment between inner perception and external ritual.
Neville's Inner Vision
Isaiah’s verses are not about distant people but about your own inner state. The shutting of eyes and the turning of the heart away from understanding are beliefs you have accepted as real when you trust outward forms—rituals, substitutes, and sensorial idols—that promise life. Feeding on ashes and bread baked on coals is a vivid symbol of chasing sensation rather than living from the I AM within. You are not damned; you have simply forgotten your true faculty of perception. The cure is to return to the inner ruler, the I AM, and revise what you accept as real. In imagination, stand as the self that cannot be deceived, the one who knows there is no lie in the right hand of God. By insisting on that inner truth, you loosen the grip of outward idols and awaken to inner deliverance. Watch how the outer scene begins to reflect your inner alignment, not by force but by the natural law of faith working through love.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and silently declare, there is no lie in the I AM. Feel the inner sight opening and revise your sense of self from outward worship to dwelling as the I AM; dwell there for a minute, letting this feeling become real.
