Inner Sanctuary Restored

Isaiah 43:27-28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 43 in context

Scripture Focus

27Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.
28Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.
Isaiah 43:27-28

Biblical Context

The passage says that the sins of a people's forefathers and their teachers bring judgment upon the sanctuary, Jacob, and Israel, resulting in exile and reproach. It points to the consequences of collective guilt and the inner need for return to holiness.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the inner reader, the 'first father' and the 'teachers' are not distant ancestors but states of your own consciousness. Their sin is your belief in separation from the I AM, the inner sanctum where you stand as awareness. When these beliefs transgress against the divine order, the inner princes of the sanctuary are profaned, and Jacob and Israel become figures of a mind at exile—cut off from the living presence and exposed to reproach. The verse therefore speaks of a costly consequence: a perceived curse and the experience of judgment manifesting as lack, delay, or opposition in your world. Yet notice this: judgment is not a verdict laid on you from without, but a displacement of your attention away from the source of life. By identifying with guilt you unknowingly sustain the separation; by returning your attention to the I AM, you invite the correction. The true Israel is your awakened consciousness, Jacob the outer garment you wear—reconciled when you stop resisting the divine order within. The path back is simple: refuse to identify with the old self and choose the interior sanctity now.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and, in the stillness, repeat 'I AM' as your only reality; revise the sense of guilt as nothing more than a past state of consciousness dissolving in this moment. Feel the sanctuary of your mind becoming holy again, and imagine Jacob and Israel standing together as one in the I AM.
