Seeing Yet Not Observing
Isaiah 42:20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Isaiah 42:20 describes a condition where much is seen and heard, yet true observation and listening are absent. It invites turning inward to align awareness with the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your outward world is crowded with images and sounds, yet you remain the spectator who does not truly observe the I AM behind them. 'Seeing many things' is not the accumulation of form, but the inner focusing of attention; 'opening the ears' refers to receptive consciousness, not merely external hearing. When your state of consciousness is entangled with images, beliefs, and roles, you hear the world but do not hear the living truth within. To awaken, release the old identification and assume the new state: you are the observer, the I AM that recognizes truth in every moment. Assume that you already inhabit the role of inner witness, and revise your thoughts until they reflect that truth. In this practice, you do not chase outward signs; you revise your inner sense of self until perception itself becomes a faithful reflection of your true being. As you feel it real, the noise of the surface world quiets and the inner voice of God becomes your seeing and hearing.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the state of I AM—already the observer and the hearer. Stay with the feeling for a few minutes and let your next moment prove the inner seeing and hearing you've chosen.
