Paths of Inner Guidance
Isaiah 42:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 42 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God promises to guide the spiritually blind along unfamiliar paths, turning darkness into light and crooked ways into straight ones, and to not forsake His people; those who trust in idols will be turned back in shame.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the context of Isaiah, the I AM speaks as your own consciousness selecting the unknown road for you. The blind are not merely eyes without sight; they are the parts of you that believe in lack or separation. The promise to lead them along paths they have not known is a description of the Self’s current act of revision—your present awareness taking a step into new terrain of belief. Darkness is not punishment but ignorance; when the I AM speaks, it turns that darkness into light, revealing a route you have never accepted as possible. Crooked things become straight as your conviction aligns with the truth that all power dwells in you as awareness. God “will not forsake them”—meaning the I AM will not abandon the experience of your new state. Those who turn to graven images reveal a fear of the unseen; in the inner economy, the idol is the old belief that something outside you governs your life. Your shift is to see that the true god is within, and the guidance you seek is already present in your own consciousness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and assume you are already in possession of the fulfilled state; see the unknown road in front of you and feel the inner light guiding you.
