Isaiah 42:10-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 42 in context

Scripture Focus

10Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.
11Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
12Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
13The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
14I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
15I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
16And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
17They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.
Isaiah 42:10-17

Biblical Context

Isaiah 42:10-17 invites all peoples to lift a new song of praise and shows the Lord moving as a mighty worker who judges idolatry and guides the blind along unknown paths.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the prophet’s song, the outer nations are but the mirrors of an inner state. When Isaiah bids the ends of the earth to sing, he invites your consciousness to awaken a new note, a fresh imagining of the I AM praising through every corner of your interior world. The Lord goes forth as a mighty man not to conquer others but to reveal the power already resident in you, the jealousy that guards your true worship against graven images of fear and want. Notice the promise: paths you did not know, darkness turned to light, crooked ways made straight — this is not future magic but present shifting of your inner sight. The I will statements are your own self-commands: I will destroy old idols, I will lead you by unknown roads, I will not forsake you. When you dwell in this night-and-day awareness, idolatry loses its grip and true worship rises as a spontaneous song of gratitude and courage. You are being brought by the I AM into clarity, away from appearances, into the light of your own everlasting paths.

Practice This Now

Practice: assume you already sing the new song of praise from every corner of your being; revise any belief in lack or idols and feel it real by breathing the feeling of the path becoming clear.
