Winged Strength Through Stillness

Isaiah 40:29-31 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 40 in context

Scripture Focus

29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31

Biblical Context

Verse 40:29-31 declares that God provides power to the weary and renews strength for those who wait on the LORD. External weariness fades as inner trust grows.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Neville's reading, the LORD is your own awakened awareness—the I AM you are. When you feel faint, you are not lacking power but misaligned with your true nature. The verse teaches that power belongs to the one who remains conscious of himself as divine. To 'wait upon the LORD' is to rest your attention in that inner awareness, not seeking energy from without but reclaiming it from within. In that quietness, strength is renewed and you rise as if on wings. 'Mount up with wings as eagles' signals the inner ascent of perception: you observe circumstances from the height of consciousness, and energy returns, enabling you to run and not be weary, walk and not faint. Practice by realizing you are the I AM, and your strength is reclaimed in the present moment.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, breathe, and repeat: 'I am the I AM; I wait upon God now.' Then picture yourself rising on eagle wings, energy flooding your limbs.
