Shelter of Light Within Isaiah 4:2-6

Isaiah 4:2-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 4 in context

Scripture Focus

2In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.
3And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
4When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.
5And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.
6And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the day time from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.
Isaiah 4:2-6

Biblical Context

Isaiah 4:2-6 pictures the Lord’s branch becoming beautiful and the survivors being called holy. It describes cleansing, purification by spirit, and a divine cloud and fire protecting and sheltering God’s people.

Neville's Inner Vision

All these verses are not about places but states of consciousness. The 'branch of the LORD' is your higher idea alive within you, growing beautiful and glorious as you dwell in your inner Zion. The 'escapees of Israel' are the parts of you that awaken and stay in the city of your true self; they are holy when you align with the I AM. The cleansing 'by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning' is the burning away of old identities—images of lack, fear, doubt—made conscious and dissolved by your willingness to feel it real. The cloud and the flaming fire by day and by night symbolize your ongoing consciousness: guidance by light, protection by love, moving through every hour. The tabernacle is your inner shelter from heat, storm, and rain—an assurance that perception can become refuge. This scene invites you to dwell as the living presence in your Jerusalem, where holiness is your birthright and salvation comes through inner imagination.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already living in Zion; feel the shelter of the cloud by day and the fire by night. Revise your old self by declaring "I am holy," and let that assurance permeate your next moment.
