Inner Exile, Inner Return

Isaiah 39:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 39 in context

Scripture Focus

6Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 39:6

Biblical Context

The verse announces that soon everything in your house and all that your fathers stored up will be carried away to Babylon. Nothing will be left, declares the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM, this is not a threat but a turning of your inner state. The 'house' is your mind and its securities—the beliefs, habits, and outward props you trust for safety. When the days arrive and the treasures belong no longer to you alone, they are carried away to Babylon, and you stand with nothing left in the old sense. This is the moment when the outer supports disappear so that you may discover a deeper wealth: your awake awareness, the I AM that neither comes nor goes. Babylon represents the ceaseless stream of thoughts that identify you with form. The removal of these treasures clears the stage for the true tenant to return—your divine self seated in the throne of consciousness. The LORD who speaks here is not a distant judge but your own inner king, the I AM perceiving itself. The promise is not a return to former circumstances but a return to the integrity of consciousness, a re-entry into the light that was always present. So embrace the loss as a purification, and let your awareness re-possess the house from within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place a hand on your heart, and declare I AM the wealth of my life; the outer house is a dream I allow to be emptied, and in that emptiness I feel the I AM returning as full consciousness.
