Biblical Context
Isaiah 39:2-7 shows Hezekiah displaying his wealth to envoys from Babylon, followed by Isaiah's warning that outward possessions will be carried away. The passage highlights how external riches and lineage are transient under divine judgment, prompting readers to recognize deeper inner values.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the language of this text, Babylon is not a distant empire but a state of mind that envies your visible riches. Hezekiah’s house represents the mind that has been trained to measure itself by silver, gold, spices, and armor. When you, in consciousness, expose your inner treasures to the gaze of a distant 'Babylon,' you give power to the outward world to judge and confiscate what your heart has come to trust. The word of the LORD of hosts points to a universal law: when you cling to forms—the wealth of the body, the fame of lineage, the security of a protected dominion—you invite loss. The exile prophesied is the inner consequence of treating your riches as separate from God. Yet this is not doom, but instruction: return your awareness to the I AM, to the feeling that all that you are and have is already complete inside. The outer world will reflect your inner state; change the state, and the world rearranges to match it.
Practice This Now
Practice: Assume 'I AM wealth' and revise your relation to form. In a quiet moment, place all your outer treasures in the chamber of inner awareness and feel the security of the I AM as your reality.
