Inner Treasures, Babylon's Test
Isaiah 39:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 39 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Hezekiah displays his wealth to Babylonian visitors; Isaiah warns that outward possessions will be tested by future exile. The inner message is that outer riches reveal the state of inner consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the scene is not a history but a symbol of consciousness. Hezekiah's gladness and his unveiling of silver, gold, spices, ointment, and arms reveal a mind that finds security in outward glitter. The envoys from Babylon are the coming propositions of the world—contexts that would claim your treasures as theirs, a reminder that what you value externally can be snatched away by time and circumstance. Isaiah's question—'What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee?'—turns the mirror inward: from what inner state did you receive your wealth? The prophet's warning is not about Babylon as a place, but about the dream of security apart from the I AM. The moment you understand that your true dominion is the awareness you call I AM, you see that all 'treasures' exist only to remind you of your capacity to imagine. Your inner wealth can neither be increased nor diminished by the outside world; it simply awaits revision by your present assumption.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and assume: I am the I AM; my inner wealth governs my world. Feel the shift as you revise your outer claims to match this inner state.
