Inner Temple Awakening
Isaiah 37:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 37 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Hezekiah hears troubling news, rends his clothes, covers himself with sackcloth, and goes to the LORD's house, then sends his aides and the priests to Isaiah for guidance.
Neville's Inner Vision
From Neville’s view, the outward scene is a drama of inner states. The man hears troubling news and, rather than clinging to the old self, sheds the old garment and covers himself with sackcloth as a sign of surrender. He steps into the house of the LORD, the temple of consciousness, where true guidance arises—not from fear but from the I AM that perceives the situation. Sending Eliakim and the elders to Isaiah represents inviting the inner voice, the prophetic 'I' within, to speak. The elders of the priests, even in their humility, symbolize the thoughts and beliefs that are brought to the test of inner revelation. This is a microcosm of turning away from external threats toward a petitioning state of awareness. It is an invitation to align with the feeling that you are not at the mercy of events, but that you are the I AM experiencing them. When you revise your interpretation in this light, you awaken the energy that dissolves limitation and makes room for truth to manifest.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In the next moment of disturbance, assume the feeling that you ARE the I AM; close your eyes, breathe, and imagine entering the inner temple and clothing your mind with sackcloth of humility, then declare, 'I seek Thy guidance within' until your certainty returns.
