Inner Counsel Over Worldly War

Isaiah 36:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 36 in context

Scripture Focus

5I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
Isaiah 36:5

Biblical Context

Isaiah 36:5 presents a choice: trust the veneer of worldly war-counsel or rest in the I AM within. It implies true power comes from inner faith, not external plans.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you is the speaker that counts. When you hear, 'I have counsel and strength for war,' recognize that such words reflect the outer noise, not the living I AM you are. The inner man—your state of consciousness—either leans on the outer alliance or yields to the assurance that the I AM provides all strength. If you insist on the outer army, you rebel against the divine presence within you. The counsel and strength you seek are not 'out there' in events but in your own imaginative realization. By assuming that the I AM is the source and director of all happenings, you invite outward forms to follow your inner state. The verse invites a test: do you identify with fear-soaked reliance on 'they say' or with the eternal whisper of the I AM? Change your assumption to, 'I am guided by the I AM within me now; this inner counsel directs every circumstance.' Then observe how perceived conflict quiets as your inward state aligns with the truth of your being, and strength flows through from within to without.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: In a quiet moment, close your eyes and repeat, 'I am the I AM within me; I have the counsel and strength for this moment.' Then picture a calm inner council, hear clear guidance, and feel certainty spreading as if the solution is already complete.
