Inner Renewal in the Wilderness
Isaiah 35:1-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The wilderness and desert in Isaiah 35:1-7 symbolize a mind barren of awareness, which is transformed into life and joy as God—your own I AM—awakens and saves. Healing, strength, and sight arise as inner conditions become outward reality.
Neville's Inner Vision
Read the text as a map of consciousness. The wilderness is a mind without the I AM present; the desert is a stubborn habit of doubt. When the verse says that God will come and save, remember: it is your own awareness—the I AM within you—arising to life. The blossoms, joy, and singing are the felt realization that awareness is the life of all things, that you are already dwelling in the promised land of your own being. Strengthen the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees not as commands from without, but as the turn of your inner posture—an assumption that you are sustained, guided, and protected by the one Power you acknowledge as yourself. The fearful heart is healed by the sure knowing that your God is present now, coming to save you from within, as your sense of self expands. The eyes, ears, and limbs respond in kind: insight, hearing, and vitality spring forth. In the wilderness, waters break out and the parched ground becomes a pool because your inner world has discovered its abundance.
Practice This Now
Impose the feeling of the wish fulfilled: I am whole, free, and alive now. Then close your eyes and imagine the barren places of your mind filling with water, green growth, and singing.
