Read Isaiah 34 in context

Scripture Focus

14The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
15There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.
Isaiah 34:14-15

Biblical Context

The passage describes wild beasts gathering and resting, a symbol of finding rest in a desolate place. It hints at a shift from danger to stillness that begins in the inner life.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the Isaiah scene, all that is pictured—the desert, the island, the satyr, the screech owl, and the vultures—are states of consciousness appearing as outer creatures. The 'rest' they find is not a fraction of land but a mental harbor—the quiet assurance of I AM, the awareness that oversees the storm. When you imagine, you write the landscape; by sustaining a new feeling you bring those creatures into harmony with your peace. The beasts gather because you have entertained fear, longing, or struggle; they retreat or nest as you hold a different inner posture: you are safe, you are watched by your own consciousness. The owls and vultures become thoughts and memories; their gathering under a shade becomes the moment you realize you can shelter under the shadow of the I AM, rather than under external circumstance. The vision invites you to revise your inner weather until your inner world is tranquil enough to host the outer world without alarm.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling of being at rest in the inner wilderness; repeat the phrase 'I AM—my awareness,' and picture the beasts peacefully gathering and finding shelter under your inner shadow. Stay with that feel-it-real state for a few minutes.
