From Desolation to Inner Kingdom

Isaiah 34:11-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 34 in context

Scripture Focus

11But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
12They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
13And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.
14The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
15There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.

Biblical Context

Isaiah 34:11-15 paints a land in total desolation—no nobles, no princes—taken over by owls, dragons, and wild beasts. It shows a judgment that strips outward power, inviting an inner awakening to the true kingdom.

Neville's Inner Vision

Look at Isaiah's desolation as a map of your own inner landscape. The cormorant, bittern, owl, and raven are the beliefs that have taken over the old mind, the line of confusion and stones of emptiness marking the boundary between what you were and what you are becoming. The nobles are the old identities you clung to—status, proof, external kingdoms—now called to a throne that is empty because you forgot your I AM. In this chapter, the outer gate is closed so that you may discover the true gate within: your consciousness. When you reverse the scene—in imagination you fill the land with your desired life; you feel it real that you are the ruler of this inner country—those outer rulers fade, and the thorns retreat, replaced by a quiet abundance. Desolation is not punishment but an invitation to awaken the inner Kingdom. Practice the assumption: I am the I AM, and I dwell in a state where harmony, strength, and fulfillment are established. As you hold that feeling, the wild beasts of fear and doubt are domesticated by your awareness.

Practice This Now

Imaginatively revise the scene now: close your eyes, declare 'I am the I AM, and this inner land is orderly and at peace,' and feel that truth settle into your chest as your life begins to align with it.
