Righteous Peace Within

Isaiah 32:17-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 32 in context

Scripture Focus

17And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
18And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;
19When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.
Isaiah 32:17-19

Biblical Context

Righteousness yields peace, and its effects are quietness and assurance forever. God's people dwell in peaceful, secure places even when storms strike.

Neville's Inner Vision

Take the verse as a description of your inner life. The work of righteousness is the ongoing alignment of your consciousness with the I AM that you are. When this alignment occurs, peace becomes the atmosphere of mind, and the quiet confidence described in the text flows through every cell. The 'effect of righteousness' is the felt stability that remains unshaken by outward wind; 'forever' is not a future date but the timeless now where you stand in awareness. The 'peaceable habitation' is the inner dwelling you enter by assuming the truth of your oneness with God, a sanctuary of stillness in which you rest. The outer world may hail or roar, but the city’s being low in a low place speaks of humility of form, not diminishment of your being. If storms arise, observe them from the vantage of your I AM, not from a reactive personality. Your life will reflect the inner state you maintain; cultivate the feeling of already occupying that peace and notice how otherwise discord yields to order.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already living in a peaceable habitation. Close your eyes, feel the I AM as your enduring dwelling, and repeat, 'I am the righteousness of God in this moment,' letting the feeling of security settle into your bones.
