From Fear to Zion's Fire

Isaiah 31:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 31 in context

Scripture Focus

9And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
Isaiah 31:9

Biblical Context

The verse shows fear driving one to a fortified place, while the LORD's presence—like fire in Zion and a furnace in Jerusalem—offers purification and protection. It invites inner security under divine awareness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Fear does not stand opposed to you; it is a movement of your own consciousness seeking a secure harbor. The Lord’s fire in Zion and the furnace in Jerusalem are not distant phenomena; they are the two faculties of your own being: awareness (Zion) and purification (Jerusalem). When you are told to fear, recognize that this is the sign showing you you have identified with a thought and forgotten the I AM. The ensign is the banner of your true identity—lifted by you, the consciousness that never dies. The princes you fear are the petty thoughts that tremble when you insist, 'I AM.' You pass over to your stronghold by assuming you are already there, by speaking as the I AM, and by feeling the heat and light of this inner flame as your present reality. As you dwell in this assumption, the outer banner loses its power and the inner furnace refines every doubt into certainty. The verse promises providence: your safety is an inward state you can return to at any moment.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and imagine yourself stepping into a fortress within, feel the warmth of Zion's fire and hear the banner of I AM being raised. Repeat 'I AM' and let fear dissolve as you assume you are already safe.
