Letting Go of Idols Within
Isaiah 31:7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 31 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
That verse speaks of a day when people cast away the idols they have made of silver and gold, recognizing their sin. It points to turning from outward worship to inner alignment with the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
On the inner level, the idols of silver and gold are images of your attached beliefs—your fixed identities, your possessions you cling to as security. In this moment, the 'day' is an inner awakening when you see you are not the self fashioned by your hands. Your 'own hands' are the ego's constructions, the stories you tell about yourself. The sin is resisting the one power within—the I AM, the awareness that is always present. When you imagine yourself as the I AM, you cast off these idols; they lose their power because you stop feeding them with attention. The act of allowing the I AM to replace them is the act of inward repentance—turning the mind toward its true source, not toward external trophies. As you dwell in the feeling of being the I AM, the external images dissolve and your life aligns with your true nature. This is not mere metaphor; it is the practical truth that imagination creates reality, and the inner turning becomes your outer change.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the I AM; I cast away every idol my hands have made.' Then imagine the idol image dissolving and the luminous presence of the I AM taking its place, feeling the release.
