Inner Lion Assurance
Isaiah 31:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 31 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage contrasts earthly power with divine deliverance: external supports fail, while the Lord’s protection remains. Zion is defended not by armies, but by the inner strength of God within.
Neville's Inner Vision
Egypt and their horses symbolize the mind clinging to sense-made power; they are flesh, not spirit, and thus cannot endure. When you align with the I AM as the sole source, visible aids will falter, for they derive strength from your outer attention. The LORD stretching out his hand is the inward act of turning toward your true self, the consciousness that creates by imagining. The lion imagery teaches inner steadfastness: though a multitude of shepherds rises with noise and doubt, the inner warrior is not afraid; the inner light does not bow to external din. The LORD of hosts coming down to fight for mount Zion is the waking realization that your inner Zion is defended by the sovereign presence within. The outer world is but a reflection of your inner state—when you awaken to this, the apparent battles dissolve and you live from the power that you already are.
Practice This Now
Assume you are the I AM, the inner Deliverer. Revise fear by quietly affirming, 'I AM the Lord of hosts; I defend Zion within me,' and feel that certainty permeate your being.
