Awakened Vision Within
Isaiah 29:9-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 29 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Isaiah portrays a people who stay in wonder and cry out, as if drunk, though not by wine. The Lord has poured out a spirit of deep sleep, covering the prophets, rulers, and seers.
Neville's Inner Vision
Isaiah speaks of a people who are not merely physically tired but morally and spiritually asleep, as if intoxicated by a dream they think is real. 'Stay yourselves, and wonder' invites you to hold a moment of quiet sight—to ask who you are behind the rolling thoughts. The verse says the Lord has poured out a spirit of deep sleep, but in the Neville trance this is the self-hypnosis of collective belief, the habit of taking appearances for truth. The 'prophets,' 'rulers,' and 'seers' are inner faculties you possess: discernment, governance of your thoughts, and true vision. When you identify with the dream of separation, these faculties become veiled; you stagger in the dark while your own I AM watches in patient lucidity. The remedy is to turn your attention off the dream and to claim the truth that you are the I AM, the awareness that illuminates all. As you assume that you are already awake—feeling the truth of your inner light—you activate the inner prophets and seers, and the outer world begins to reflect that inner clarity.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume right now, 'I am awake here and now.' Revise the sense of sleep as a misperception and feel your inner seers brightening; notice a subtle shift in perception.
