Read Isaiah 29 in context

Scripture Focus

12And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
Isaiah 29:12-13

Biblical Context

Isaiah says the book is given to the unlearned. People draw near with their mouths, but their hearts are far, and true worship is inner alignment, not outward precepts.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Isaiah, the book is given to the unlearned, a sign that illumination does not depend on bookish training but on the condition of your heart. In the Neville mirror, the people draw near with their mouths and yet their heart is distant, for their fear is taught by the precepts of men. You, reader, are not banished from the inner temple when you abandon reliance on outward rules. The I AM, your true self, can hear the whisper of the inner book's page turning only when the mind rests in inner consciousness. The 'precept of men' is but a habit of thought—one that makes fear appear holy. Real worship is the alignment of heart and inner knowing; it is not performed but becomes. When attention returns to your I AM, the barrier dissolves and God is no longer apart from you but within as living awareness, reading you as you read it. Your life becomes the continual realization of the inner scripture you have always carried.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already in the inner temple, aware of the I AM. Feel the shift as you stop seeking God in ritual and begin listening to the quiet truth within you.
