Inner Covenant Beyond Death

Isaiah 28:18-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 28 in context

Scripture Focus

18And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
Isaiah 28:18-19

Biblical Context

The passage states that the covenant with death and the agreement with hell can be annulled. When the scourge passes, you are pressed under its weight, revealing the inner judgment of your consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your covenant with death is a belief you have accepted about your nature — that you are a mortal, time-bound self. In the I AM, consciousness itself, that contract dissolves. The verse presents a morning-after-morning test, the overflowing scourge that seems to sweep you, not to destroy you, but to strip away the old identity. The trick is not to fight the storm but to observe it from the throne of awareness. Ask: Who is the you that experiences threat? The answer: the I AM, pure awareness, which cannot be trodden down by conditions. When you revise the narrative, declaring you are life that cannot die, the apparent pressure loses power and becomes simply a report in the mind. The promise is never withheld; it is your state of consciousness. By dwelling in this inner truth and feeling it as real, you annul the death-contract and step into an awakened life here and now.

Practice This Now

Morning practice: close your eyes and declare that you are the I AM; disannul the death-contract. Then revise the outer report by imagining yourself living as life that cannot die, right here and now.
