The Inner Cornerstone
Isaiah 28:15-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 28 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage contrasts trusting lies with a true foundation laid in Zion; those who believe in this foundation stand calmly, not hurried by appearances, while the deceptive refuge of lies is swept away.
Neville's Inner Vision
I hear Isaiah as a parable of your inner weather. The 'covenant with death' is not a future pact but a state of consciousness in which you pretend separation from Life. You have been saying in effect, 'The overflowing scourge will not reach me,' because you hid behind lies and falsehoods; yet God declares that a foundation is laid in Zion—a stone, a tested stone, a precious corner stone—a sure foundation: your I AM, the awareness that you are. When you believe this, you cease running to the refuge of lies; you stand on the rock of truth within. Judgment will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: the external events align with the inner standard you hold. The hail that sweeps away the refuge of lies is the revelation that your inner vision creates your outer weather. The invitation is to turn from fear and rely on the inner certainty that you are the foundation, and that belief in that foundation makes haste unnecessary. Thus, a calm, steady faith replaces frantic planning—the imaginal act confirming the reality of your true self.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and say, 'I AM the stone, I am the foundation; I believe in this truth now.' Then feel the assurance in your chest as the fear dissolves.
