The Inner Downfall of Pride
Isaiah 23:9-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 23 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Isaiah 23:9-11 speaks of divine judgment aimed at staining the pride of the earth, reducing strength, and destroying the strongholds of Tyre’s merchant power.
Neville's Inner Vision
Behold the inner Tyre; the Lord of Hosts is your I AM, purposed to stain the pride of all glory within you. What you call strength in the outer world is but a mirror of self-image; as you acknowledge the I AM as the sole governor of your reality, the need for outward grandeur dissolves. The river-like passage through your land is your mental flow—let your self-concept move unresisted, washing away stiff forms of identity. When you sense 'there is no more strength' in the old sense of power, you are not weakening; you are clearing space for the true energy that writes your life from within. He stretched out his hand over the sea and shook the kingdoms—your inner kingdoms of fear, habit, and pride tremble when confronted by your awareness. The commandment against the merchant city is a summons to halt bargaining with appearances; to stop trading identity for status. Destroy the strong holds thereof—let every fortified belief crumble before the living I AM that you are. In this moment you recognize that judgment is a renovation, not punishment, and you awaken to a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the I AM reigns here; revise every picture of self as dependent on outward strength. Visualize a river flowing through your inner Tarshish, dissolving old strongholds, and feel the power of the I AM returning.
