Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God clothes a chosen ruler with authority, giving him governance over Jerusalem and Judah. He bears the Key of David to open and shut doors.
Neville's Inner Vision
Isaiah tells of a kingly self who is clothed with robe and girdle, and whose government is committed into his hand. In Neville’s language, this robe is a state of consciousness you wear by assuming a sovereign identity, the girdle a disciplined focus that steadies your imagination, and the government a felt sense of authority over your life. The Key of the House of David laid upon his shoulder is your ability to decide which doors in your experience are opened or kept shut. When you inhabit that state, you become a father to the inhabitants of your inner Jerusalem and Judah—the thoughts, habits, and conditions you commonly call 'my life.' The outer world is a faithful image of your inner state; change the inner Lord, and the outer doors rearrange themselves in obedience. Practice now: assume you are the ruler of your own kingdom. Feel the key upon your shoulder; feel the authority in your chest; imagine doors opening to visions you desire and others closing to what no longer serves you. This is the revival of your covenant with I AM, right here, right now.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the sovereign state; feel the robe, girdle, and the Key settle on your shoulder. Revise one limitation by affirming, 'I am the ruler of my own kingdom, and this door opens to me now.'
