Biblical Context
Isaiah 2:20 describes the moment when people discard the idols of silver and gold that they once worshiped, casting them away. It points to turning away from external symbols toward inner truth and reverent worship of the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your true Jerusalem is not a place on a map but the state you inhabit as awareness. When Isaiah says 'in that day', he speaks to the moment you awaken to the fact that the silver idol of status and the gold idol of outward security are mere thoughts you once worshiped, formed by your attention. The I AM within you—your pure consciousness—does not cling to these symbols; it reveals reality through the feeling you invest in it. To cast the idols to the moles and bats is not a literal action but a mental turning away from form toward the formless, ever-present awareness that you are. As you relinquish the need to prove yourself by wealth, applause, or possession, you discover you are free to live from the living I AM. The 'day' is now; the change is internal, and the world rearranges to reflect the worship you finally offer to your true self.
Practice This Now
Practice: Assume you are the I AM in this moment and revise a craving for a symbol by saying, 'I cast out my idols to the moles and bats and worship the One.' Feel that release as real.
