Inner Worship: Isaiah 17:7-8

Isaiah 17:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 17 in context

Scripture Focus

7At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
8And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
Isaiah 17:7-8

Biblical Context

The verse declares that people will turn from external idols to look to their Maker. It marks true worship as an inner alignment rather than outward rites.

Neville's Inner Vision

That day is not a distant date but a turning of consciousness. When my eyes rest on the Maker within, I loosen the grip of altars, the works of hands, the groves, and the images that once claimed my reverence. The hands that fashion idols reveal beliefs I have not yet corrected in my mind; true worship, then, is an inward alignment with the I AM—the Holy One within. I no longer honor outer symbols; I honor the source from which all outward forms derive meaning. This separation from external rites is not a withdrawal from God but a return to the singular reality I am: the maker of my world, the I AM. As I cultivate that inner reverence, appearances bend to reflect the inner harmony I hold. The day I look inward, all outward altars fade, and I stand in the undeniable presence of the inner Maker.

Practice This Now

Take a moment and assume the consciousness that you are the Maker within. Silence the mind and say I look to my Maker within now and feel the I AM illumining your thoughts, letting outer symbols fall away.
