Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Isaiah 17:6 describes a remnant left after a shaking, a few berries clinging to the upper branches. In Neville’s frame, these berries are the enduring states of consciousness you can nourish with imagination.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the Isaiah verse, the shaking of the tree is your outer world in a moment of upheaval, and the gleanings are the remnant of consciousness that remains when you stop fighting the surface and turn inward. The olive tree is your ongoing state of mind, and the topmost berries—two or three—along with four or five on the outer branches, are the precise, stubborn states of awareness that can survive chaos. They are not simply signs of scarcity; they are the seed of the harvest you will reap when you choose to live from the I AM rather than from fear. God of Israel is understood as the I AM within you—the constant awareness that neither comes nor goes. When you feel the tremor of circumstance, do not argue with it; instead, assume that the remnant is intact, that your desired state already exists in the uppermost branches. As you dwell in that feeling—seeing the small clusters, tasting calm certainty—you align your inner tree so that, in time, your outward life bears fruit consistent with your inner state.
Practice This Now
Practice: close your eyes, rest your attention on the uppermost branches of your inner tree, and assume the remnant is already present. Feel the I AM as steady, and dwell in the belief that the berries of your desired state exist and are growing.
