Descending into the Inner Pit
Isaiah 14:15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 14 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse portrays a descent into hell, a pit of exile experienced as a state of mind rather than a future punishment.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me, Isaiah 14:15 is not a prophecy of a literal place but a depiction of the inner pull toward a lesser self. When you identify with fear, guilt, or separation from your true I AM, you find yourself brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit—an inner exile. Hell, in this sense, is the mood you consent to in consciousness. The remedy is a revision: acknowledge that the I AM is always present and governing awareness, and claim that the present moment is under that ruling presence. Do not chase a future deliverance; know you are already the I AM experiencing this scene. By maintaining the felt sense of that higher state, the pit loses its power and the sense of exile dissolves. Imagination, not fate, creates your experience, so you can walk out of the pit by choosing a different inner condition and watching your world follow.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the I AM as your real, present state; revise the scene by feeling you stand beyond the pit and let that higher reality fill your body until exile dissolves.
