Inner Worship Unveiled

Hosea 9:4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hosea 9 in context

Scripture Focus

4They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
Hosea 9:4

Biblical Context

Hosea 9:4 declares that the people's offerings are not pleasing because their inner state is defiled; true worship requires a purified inward posture.

Neville's Inner Vision

Observe that Hosea points not to religion as such, but to the inner state that sponsors it. Wine offerings and sacrifices are not inherently wrong; they become polluted when the worshipper believes themselves separate from the Presence. The bread of mourners speaks of an inner life eaten in sorrow, a consciousness that cannot feed the soul. In Neville’s terms, the 'house of the LORD' is the house of awareness within you. If your state of consciousness is defiled by guilt, fear, or the belief that you must appease power, your outward acts will fail to please the I AM because they echo that same defilement. The cure is not to reject ritual but to revise the assumption behind it: you are already the Presence, and you offer not to gain favor but to awaken your own consciousness. Assume, feel-it-real, that the boundary between worship and the Presence dissolves. Then the polluted bread is replaced by a sacred substance—the bread of life—readily eaten in the temple of your heart. The inner kingdom stands, and the outer offerings align with it.

Practice This Now

Assume the Presence now and feel it real. Revise the belief that you must sacrifice to be acceptable; your inner state is the true altar.
