Calf of Samaria: Inner Idols

Hosea 8:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hosea 8 in context

Scripture Focus

6For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
Hosea 8:6

Biblical Context

The calf is a man-made idol, not the true God. Therefore it shall be broken.

Neville's Inner Vision

That line is not history but a map of consciousness. When Hosea says the calf was made by the workman, he names the image we fashion in the mind the God of doctrine the idol born of effort tradition and fear. The true God is the I AM within, the ever present awareness that cannot be carved or broken by any tool. The calf is a projection, a product of human effort, and thus not God. When you rest in the I AM, the image loses its authority; the pieces fall as the wall of illusion collapses. The Samaria calf is broken because you stop worshipping a created image and begin worshipping the living presence that you are. This is not punishment but a revision: you remove allegiance from a crafted idol and align with the constant, formless consciousness in whose light all forms are seen, including your beliefs.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, assume the feeling I AM as the sole reality, and watch the idol crumble into light, leaving only the I AM. Feel the inner calm as you realize the true God is awareness within.
