Casting Off The Good Within
Hosea 8:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Hosea 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse says that when Israel rejects what is good, a pursuing enemy follows. It points to an inner law: cast off the good, invite pursuit in the inner life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of 'the thing that is good' as the ever-present good within you—the alignment of attention with the I AM. Hosea speaks not of outer armies but of the inner divisions within consciousness. When you cast off the good, you loosen your attention from the living presence, and the 'enemy'—a sense of lack, fear, or pursuing thoughts—takes up the chase. The I AM is the harbor and the motive; call yourself, 'I AM.' In that recognition, the pursuing motion ceases, for you are no longer the one who runs from himself. Obedience and loyalty to the inner law are not external duties but dwelling in the one state of consciousness where the good is experienced as now. The moment you resist the current, you exaggerate separation and invite pursuit. But the inner shift—resting in I AM, feeling the completeness of the good you already are—transforms the seen and unseen. The 'enemy' dissolves as you refuse to identify with lack or fear. Remember: imagination creates reality; imagine yourself as the good that nothing can pursue.
Practice This Now
Assume you are the I AM, the good you seek is already within. In the next few minutes, feel-it-real by saying, 'I AM presence now,' and notice the sense of pursuit fade as you rest in the good.
