Inner Bow of False Trust

Hosea 7:11-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hosea 7 in context

Scripture Focus

11Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
12When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
13Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
14And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.
15Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.
16They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
Hosea 7:11-16

Biblical Context

Ephraim is pictured as a silly dove without heart, chasing Egypt and Assyria. God warns of net and chastisement, as they rebel in heart and return not to the Most High.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here, you are the 'I' who is aware; the 'Ephraim' state is the dove without heart—pattering about outside symbols of safety. The impulse to call on Egypt or Assyria is the mind's habit of seeking security in forms rather than in the I AM within. The 'net' and the 'deceitful bow' are images of how consciousness constrains itself by fear, by projection, by pride in power. When they cry with their beds, they show the inner contradiction: redeemed, yet speaking lies against God. The call to return to the Most High is a change of awareness: reform your inner posture, cease imagining mischief against God, and re-center in the I AM as the supply that binds, strengthens, and sustains. The destruction spoken of arises from living by appearances rather than the inner truth, but redemption is offered when you align with the I AM. The moment you return to that center, the inner king asserts itself and peace replaces turmoil.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume, 'I AM the only source of my supply.' Feel this inner truth until the outward urge to seek Egypt or Assyria dissolves, and you rest in the inner I AM.
