Biblical Context
Hosea 6:9-11 portrays corrupt priests, Israel's defilement, and a future harvest for Judah after captivity.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville's terms, the 'company of priests' represents the stream of habitual thoughts that murder the straight path by consent, when fear, desire, or status override the living I AM within. The 'horrible thing' in the house of Israel is the defilement of your inner sanctuary when you mistake outward forms for reality. The 'whoredom of Ephraim' becomes the mind's attachment to images of security or authority rather than intimate communion with your God-state. Yet the oracle promises a harvest for Judah on returning from captivity: the moment you withdraw belief from lack and inhabit the awareness that you are already in the promised land, your inner captivity ends. When you acknowledge the I AM as your true ruler, outer conditions reorder to reflect that inward harvest. The old priesthood of thought fades, and a singular Self directs your life. Judgment becomes invitation: it is a correction toward the clear, blessed return of consciousness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, breathe, and assume I AM here now. Revise the sense of lack by dwelling in the inner harvest, feeling that you are already in the promised land.
