Biblical Context
Hosea 6:3-5 invites persistent seeking of the LORD, showing that true knowledge arises from an inner movement rather than outward forms. It also warns that outward goodness fades like morning clouds, while inner light clarifies judgments.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Hosea the LORD is your I AM, your ongoing consciousness. To follow on to know the LORD is to refuse to rest in a temporary sentiment and to choose, now, to awaken to what you truly are. The going forth of the LORD is prepared as the morning: idea comes in with the light, and with it comes nourishment; you feel the stirring of understanding as rain, both former and latter, renewing the earth of your mind. The complaint of Ephraim and Judah—'your goodness is a morning cloud'—speaks to the habit of believing in transient piety; awaken to the truth that your real self remains, even when appearances waver. 'I have hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth' points to inner declarations that cut away false beliefs, turning on the light of your judgments. When you allow inner insight to lead, your judgments become the light that goeth forth, illuminating every corner of your state of consciousness.
Practice This Now
Sit with eyes closed, assume you are already knowing the LORD within; feel the morning rain of awareness renewing your inner field, and softly say, 'I am knowing the LORD now' until it feels real.
