Biblical Context
Israel’s pride proclaims itself openly, revealing the inner state that governs the nation. Its arrogance is shown to bring about a fall for Israel, Ephraim, and Judah together.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your attention is the mark of the inner state. The pride of Israel is the claim of separateness—I am this, I am better than—testifying to the face you wear in consciousness. When you cling to such a belief, you invite the dissolution of the inner structures called Israel, Ephraim, and Judah, the many identities that imagine themselves apart. The fall is the natural outcome of insisting on a separate self; but the moment you revoke the allegiance to pride and choose the I AM as your sole reality, the inner movements reverse. In your imagination, dwell as the one awake to the truth that you are always one with God, and feel it real that this truth is now unfolding as your experience. The appearances of pride, judgment, and downfall fade as you remain faithful to the I AM. To practice, imagine you are already this new state, and let your feeling of unity saturate every scene you inhabit.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In the next quiet moment, assume the I AM as your true state and revise any prideful self-conception. Declare I am one with all, and sit with that embodied feeling for several breaths.
