Hosea's Inner Covenant
Hosea 3:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Hosea 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God calls true devotion to endure and remain with the divine I AM; outward forms fade, yet a faithful heart stays.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice the two movements: first, a calling to fidelity within, the 'abide for me many days' that asks you to dwell with the I AM, not chasing after the harlotry of sense pleasures or external idols. The second movement is the stripping away of outward forms: no king, no prince, no sacrifice, no image, no ephod, no teraphim. Yet in this withdrawal, Hosea reveals the inner reality: you are not bereft; you are invited to rest in the consciousness of God as your own being. The phrase 'so will I also be for thee' translates to: your awareness is not separate from the divine; the I AM is your inmost self and its resignation of outward props shows that you never needed them to begin with. The exile of externals is not punishment but a purifying of consciousness, a return to pure relation—lover to beloved, I AM to I AM. When you persist in the inner state, you discover that true worship is not ritual but recognition; your inner king, inner sacrifice, and inner temple are always present, regardless of appearances.
Practice This Now
Practice: Sit quietly for a few minutes and assume the I AM as your eternal king; repeat softly, 'I am abiding with God.' Feel the inner presence, letting outer forms fall away in imagination.
