Biblical Context

God promises an eternal inward betrothal, weaving righteousness, judgment, lovingkindness, and mercy. By faithfulness, you will come to know the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, Hosea is not speaking of a distant marriage, but of your own awakening. The 'betrothal' is a steadfast alignment of your consciousness with the I AM, the God within you. When He says forever, He means a state of awareness that cannot be broken by appearances. Righteousness is your right state of being, judgment is discernment that frees you from illusion, lovingkindness and mercies are the continual administrations of grace that flow from your settled awareness. To 'betroth thee unto me' is to choose and maintain in memory that you belong to this Lord—your own essential self—so that every experience is filtered through the knowing of your oneness. 'I will betroth thee unto me in faithfulness' means fidelity to the true nature of awareness; you shall know the LORD as the living presence that you are. As you dwell in this inner covenant, ancient judgments dissolve, and mercy becomes the atmosphere of your days. Your outward world will eventually reflect this inner state as you persist in feeling as though the union is already established.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already betrothed to the Lord within, and feel that you belong to this divine union now. Repeat, 'I am betrothed to the Lord in righteousness, judgment, lovingkindness, and faithfulness,' until it rests as your present reality.
