Hosea 12:3-4

Biblical Context

The passage shows Jacob wrestling with God—using inner strength, prayer, and tears to prevail. It culminates in a divine encounter at Bethel, where God speaks again.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jacob’s night-long wrestling is a map of consciousness. In Hosea, the heel-grasp is the moment you cling to a split image of yourself and life, and by your inner strength you gain power with God as you refuse to let the old image define you. To prevail against the angel is to command your inner idea until it yields blessing; the angel is the face of God you have named and argued with, until contact becomes communion. Wept and supplicated are not external acts, but the emotions released when the habitual self surrenders to the I AM presence. Bethel is not a stone city but the inner temple where you meet the divine registered as your awareness. There, in the stillness, God spake with us—meaning you hear the voice of your own I AM confirming your creating power. Your every struggle is a rehearsal for the real agreement: you are the one who speaks, and the world answers in the terms of your inner state. So choose the wish, dwell in it, and let the feeling of its reality soften every argument against it.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume you are in inner Bethel now and speak with the I AM. Feel the blessing as already yours and let that feeling quiet every fear.
