Wind and Covenant Within
Hosea 12:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Hosea 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Ephraim chases empty wind and makes hollow deals with foreign powers; desolation follows. God will judge Jacob (Israel) according to their deeds, punishing them for their waywardness.
Neville's Inner Vision
On the inner plane, Ephraim's 'wind' and the 'east wind' symbolize restless thought and belief in shifting powers rather than the solid reality of the I AM. The 'lies and desolation' are the psychic by-products of identifying with appearances rather than truth. The covenant with the Assyrians and oil carried to Egypt represent seeking security through external alliances and material means, which never deliver true safety to the awakened self. The Lord's 'controversy with Judah' is not a punishment from a distant deity, but the inner reckoning of consciousness that refuses to align with its own divine nature, Jacob being the name of the whole people in whom God dwells. Recompense, according to deeds, is the psychic law: what you identify with internally becomes your outer experience. Therefore the remedy is not in political alignments, but in a radical inner alignment: claim the I AM as your sole governor, revise every belief that you are at the mercy of winds or brokers of security. When you persist in that inner realization, the outer covenants crumble because they were never the basis of true security; your life becomes a demonstration of the I AM here and now.
Practice This Now
Practice: Assume the I AM as your sole reality and revise the scene by affirming, 'Only the I AM governs me now.' Then feel the truth deeply for a minute, as if it is already so.
