Inner Covenant Reimagined

Hebrews 8:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 8 in context

Scripture Focus

9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Hebrews 8:9

Biblical Context

The verse states that the old covenant with the fathers was not kept because they did not remain in it; as a result, God did not regard them.

Neville's Inner Vision

Hebrews 8:9 speaks to the failure of an external contract that the people kept not, but in truth it points to the state of consciousness that must hold the covenant. The 'not according to' means the old agreement cannot bind one who now knows the I AM as the sole author of reality. When you say, 'I am in covenant with God,' you are not appealing to an outer code but affirming your present alignment with the divine mind. The reason they were not kept in the covenant is they wandered; the reason you may feel distant is a momentary forgetting of who you are. The new covenant is not written on tablets of stone, but inscribed on consciousness by the steady, grateful assumption that the I AM is your own awareness and power. Your life becomes governed by inner laws you freely assume.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, declare 'I AM the covenant,' and visualize already living within its conditions. Feel the assurance as your present reality.
