Biblical Context
Hebrews 8:8-10 announces a shift from the old covenant to a new one, where inner laws are written on mind and heart. It promises that God will be our God and we will be His people through intimate alignment of awareness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the old covenant as a memory of striving; the new covenant is a radical revision written into your very consciousness. God is the I AM within you, the unwavering awareness that says, I am. The days foretold are the days you wake to the fact that the laws governing life are not etched on external tablets but written in your mind and heart. When you assume the feeling that this is already so—that you live under a divine order that guides thoughts, choices, and affections—you are revising your inner contract. The 'house of Israel' and the 'house of Judah' become your inner dispositions—the disciplined mind and the faithful heart—united in harmony. The promise 'I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people' describes consciousness in reciprocal relation with itself: the I AM recognizing itself as God and as its own people. The covenant is not a future event but a present alignment of memory, attention, and feeling with divine law. In this light, you are invited to dwell in the awareness that you are already under this covenant here and now.
Practice This Now
Assume now that you live under the new covenant—your mind and heart filled with divine laws. Feel the I AM governing your thoughts and actions, and let that sense of being 'one with God' imprint itself on your day.
