Inner Covenant of Mercy

Hebrews 8:12-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 8 in context

Scripture Focus

12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrews 8:12-13

Biblical Context

The passage promises God’s mercy to our unrighteousness and that sins and iniquities are remembered no more. It also declares the first covenant old and decaying, ready to vanish away.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you the living I AM writes the covenant of mercy. When I say I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, I am not appealing to a distant judge but to the awareness in which I exist. The sins and iniquities I once believed were mine are remembered no more by the I AM that dwells as me. The old covenant—the fear-based set of rules that once governed my thoughts—begins to decay and vanish as I refuse to identify with lack or judgment. The new covenant is not a temple ceremony but a present state of consciousness: the felt sense that I am forgiven, whole, and free in this moment. If I dwell in that field, my past loses its charge and my future is re-scripted by grace rather than guilt. The moment I align with mercy, I see events as signs of release rather than proof of deficiency. Practice humility before this inner law: assume the state of forgiveness, as if it already were true, and watch how my life shifts to harmony and effortless being.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, place a hand on your heart, and declare, 'I am the I AM; I forgive myself; past sins are remembered no more.' Then breathe into a felt sense of release and notice how your perception shifts.
