The Ever-Living Inner Priest

Hebrews 7:23-25 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 7 in context

Scripture Focus

23And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
24But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
25Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:23-25

Biblical Context

Hebrews 7:23-25 shows that many priests are mortal, but one eternal priesthood remains. This priest intercedes for believers, enabling salvation to the uttermost.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the quiet of your own consciousness, these lines reveal a truth: the many priests you have known are only your changing states of awareness, each born and dying in the theater of your thoughts. Yet the Christ within—your unchanging I AM—endures beyond time, a fixed priesthood that never falters. He lives forever, therefore interceding for you with a constancy no mortal hand can claim. When you perceive Him, you perceive your real relationship to God: not by deeds of many efforts, but by the single, steady act of applying your awareness to the Father. The word saved to the uttermost points to a complete restoration of your whole being—the mind, the heart, the body—through the uninterrupted companionship of your inner priest. As you dwell in the I AM and feel the presence of the intercessor within, you are not waiting for salvation from without; you are becoming it, in the immediacy of the present moment.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and rest in the I AM as the unchanging inner priest. Repeat, 'I am the I AM, forever interceding for me; I am saved to the uttermost by the timeless presence within.'
