Biblical Context
Hebrews 7:1-3 presents Melchizedek as a timeless king-priest who blesses Abraham, symbolizing a higher, eternal priesthood beyond birth or descent.
Neville's Inner Vision
Hebrews 7:1-3 speaks of Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who meets Abraham and blesses him, and Abraham gives a tenth of all. In Neville’s sense, this Melchizedek is not a man in a past century but a state of consciousness you enter. He is the inner King of Righteousness and the King of Peace—the I AM that rules your inner domain. The lines about him being without father or mother and without descent, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, describe a timeless, eternal function of consciousness that does not fade with circumstances. When you utterly identify with that I AM, you become the continually abiding priest, blessing every part of your life. The blessing spoken to Abraham represents the nourishment you receive from this state, and the act of tithing is your act of relinquishing control to the higher state, investing your mental energy in this reality. The slaughter of the kings is the destruction of fear, appetite, and lack by faith in this inner kingship. Let this inner Melchizedek reign within you, and every event in your life will reflect that reign.
Practice This Now
Assume you are the I AM, the King of Righteousness and Peace. Sit quietly, picture Melchizedek meeting you and blessing you, and feel that blessing flow through your chest; then declare a revision: 'I am the priest of my life, and from this moment I live as that priest.'
