Entering the Inner Rest

Hebrews 4:7-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 4 in context

Scripture Focus

7Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:7-11

Biblical Context

The passage urges you today to hear God's voice, stop relying on personal works, and enter the rest prepared for the people of God. It calls you to labor by faith to rest in the present divine activity rather than in your own efforts.

Neville's Inner Vision

All that is spoken here is your inner invitation. The writer is not addressing distant history but your present consciousness. God says 'today' 'hear his voice' because you, the I AM, can hear now. The rest is not a future program to be accomplished by your hands; it is a state of awareness you enter by the act of assumption. To labor to enter the rest means you persist in the conviction that the finish is already done in your own being; you cease from trusting your own works and trust the original act of creation within you. When you dwell in the feeling of rest, you align with the Almighty's cessation, and the world begins to move from that inner alignment. The phrase 'there remains a rest' becomes an invitation to reside in your essential consciousness where belief is not a task but a state of the I AM. Your faith becomes trust in the inner act performed by your own awareness; the outer changes are the echo of that inner settlement.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and repeat, 'I am rest in God now,' and feel the stillness as real; then revise a limiting belief by declaring the opposite as already true in your I AM.
