Read Hebrews 4 in context

Scripture Focus

5And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Hebrews 4:5-6

Biblical Context

Rest is presented as a promised inner state that remains to be entered. The first hearers did not enter because of unbelief, illustrating that belief is the doorway to rest.

Neville's Inner Vision

All scriptural doors are doors of consciousness. The rest Hebrews speaks of is not a geographic stop but a state of awareness you may assume this moment. The 'place' and the promise to enter refer to your inner sanctuary—the quiet I AM that witnesses every thought. The first hearers did not enter because of unbelief—the stubborn mood that forgets who you are. Unbelief is simply resisting your own I AM; it keeps you at the gate, begging for conditions to line up. But rest comes when you affirm that you are that I AM, and that this very awareness is the promised land. When you practice, you move from outward results to inner assurance, and the barrier disappears as you accept that rest is your natural state. Then the mind ceases its grasping and you live in a peace that animates every moment. So revise tonight: I AM RESTING NOW, for I am the I AM; nothing stands between me and the rest of God. Feel it as real; let imagination complete the act.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and declare I AM RESTING NOW in the inner I AM, then hold that feeling until it feels real, letting lack dissolve. Let the imagination do the work and notice the shift in consciousness.
