Guarding the Inner Faith

Hebrews 3:12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 3 in context

Scripture Focus

12Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Hebrews 3:12

Biblical Context

Hebrews 3:12 cautions believers to guard against an unbelieving heart that distances them from the living God. It invites you to examine your inner state and stay connected to God within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Take Hebrews 3:12 as a map of the interior. The evil heart of unbelief is not a distant trespass but a slipping away from the consciousness that you are One with the Living God. The Living God is not a person outside your door; the I AM that lights your thoughts and breath is always within. When you imagine yourself as separated, you contract your awareness and invite doubt to stand where God should be. Departing from the living God occurs whenever you forget that you are the living God in expression, the very awareness that makes all things real. The remedy is to reverse the assumption: assume you are already dwelling in the Living God, and let the feeling of being one with God saturate your mind. Practice by repeating in silence: I AM within me now; I dwell in the Living God. Persist in that feeling, and belief becomes your natural state rather than a distant hope.

Practice This Now

Imaginative practice: whenever doubt rises, pause and silently declare I AM within me now, and feel the unity of being in the Living God for at least 60 seconds.
